This fully paid scholarship is offered by the International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers and is open to all students (IAMAT).

About IAMAT Travel Medicine Scholarship | Concerning the Scholarship

This is one of two scholarships available to a doctor or nurse who resides and works outside of South Africa in another African nation. Priority will be given to medical professionals with experience in travel medicine and the potential to advance the field in their own nation. The Robert Haru Fisher Travel Medicine Scholarship will give money to the chosen student.

The South African Society of Travel Medicine manages the prize on behalf of IAMAT. The goal of SASTM is to establish the benchmark for travel medical practice in all areas, including travel health professionals’ training and certification.

IAMAT Travel Medicine Scholarship Benefits

• The tuition, textbooks, local transportation, and lodging are all covered by IAMAT.
• Transportation to South Africa and any additional incidental expenses are the recipient’s responsibility.
• After the course is successfully completed, IAMAT will pay back the scholar’s airfare (economy class).

IAMAT Travel Medicine Scholarship Requirements

1. Working and living outside of South Africa in an African nation where travel medicine is a developing field.
2. Travel medicine expertise.
3. The ability to promote travel medicine in the workplace, community, and nation.
4. Demonstrated excellence in writing and speaking English.

IAMAT Scholarship Selection Criteria

The following criteria will be used to determine the IAMAT scholar:

1. Being familiar with travel medicine.
2. The ability and dedication to promote travel medicine in the workplace, region, and nation.
3. Travelers are currently seen in your practice (inbound or outbound travellers).
4. Enthusiastic in teaching your coworkers and students the best practices in travel medicine.
5. Demonstrated excellence in writing and speaking English.
6. Those applicants who are 45 years of age or younger will be given preference.
