University of Calgary Overview

The University of Calgary is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The University begun in 1944 as the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta, founded in 1908. It has 14 faculties and 250+ programs. It is the 6th top research university. The university has 62 senate members from the alumni association, academic staff, the student body, and the general public.

University of Calgary Admission Requirements – Before Applying

University of Calgary Admission Requirements varies depending on your choice of program. Check here to see the necessary requirements for each of the programs.

The ApplyAlberta system gives you access to create a profile with your personal information and academic history. This information is automatically filled on your application(s) to Alberta post-secondary institutions.

Documents required of you:

  1. A MyAlberta Digital ID.  You will be prompted to create a MyAlberta Digital ID if you do not already have one.
  2. Your Alberta Student Number (ASN).  If you have applied to or attended a school or post-secondary institution in Alberta, you will already have an ASN.  To find your ASN, you can use the ASN Lookup service. If you do not have an ASN, the ApplyAlberta system will assign one to you.
  3. Names of all high schools and post-secondary institutions you have attended or are currently attending.
  4. High school courses and marks (for currently enrolled Canadian students only).
  5. A credit card or other accepted method of payment will be necessary to pay any application fees charged by the institution(s).

University of Calgary GPA Requirements

The Cumulative GPA for all courses must be at least 3.30.

The University of Calgary Acceptance Rate is merely 10-20% which makes it a highly competitive university to get into and requires an impressive academic profile from its candidates.

How to Apply for University of Calgary

The application steps have two sections “Studied in Alberta” or “Studied outside Alberta“. Select any of the two, depending on your choice and follow the steps to apply.

Studied in Alberta

If you selected “Studied in Alberta“, then follow the steps below

Create an ApplyAlberta account

  • Beginning Oct. 1, you can start your application on the ApplyAlberta website, complete your profile, and select the “University of Calgary.”

 Create or enter your eID

  • As part of the application, you’ll be asked to enter or create your UCalgary eID.
  • Create an eID

    Complete your application

Submit your application and pay the $125 application fee

  • You must submit your UCalgary application for review, and select a way to pay your $125 application fee.

      Submit your required document

  • Based on your application, we’ll let you know in your UCalgary Student Centre how and where to submit any required documents. Visit the documents page for more information.

Studied Outside Alberta

Start your application

  • On Oct. 1, you can start your application. Begin by creating a UCalgary eID.

  • Submit your application and pay your $125 (Canadian education) $145 (International education) application fee.

Application deadline: Fall undergraduate admission

  • Deadline to submit your application or make changes to your program choices.

Application deadline: Diverse Qualifications

  • Deadline to add Diverse Qualifications to your undergraduate application.

Document deadline: Fall Health Sciences and Social Work undergraduate programs

  • Deadline to submit supplemental documentation for Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Social Work.

March 15

Document deadline: Fall undergraduate admission

  • Deadline to submit unofficial transcripts and supporting documents required for admission. Transfer applicants must present transcripts that show complete of or registration in all required courses for admission.

Document deadline: Fall Diverse Qualifications applicants

  • Deadline to submit diverse qualifications personal statement and references.

May 1

Acceptance deadline: Fall undergraduate admission

  • Deadline to accept Fall offer of admission dated April 15 or earlier.
  • If you receive an offer dated April 1 or later, you have 30 days from the date you received it to accept the offer. Learn how to accept your offer.

Application deadline: Residence Guarantee

  • Deadline to submit an application for a guaranteed space in residence for your first two years at UCalgary.

June 1

Document deadline: Fall undergraduate transfer applicants

  • Deadline for transfer applicants to submit final official transcripts showing completion of all courses required for admission.

June 30

Course completion deadline: Fall undergraduate high school applicants

  • Deadline for completion of all high school courses required for admission.

August 1

Document deadline: Fall undergraduate high school applicants

  • Deadline for high school applicants to submit final official transcripts.
